Update the Device Firmware

About Updating the Device Firmware

  • Dickson allows users to control how the firmware on the devices is updated in three different ways: Over the Air (OTA) Manually or Automatically, and Manually via USB Stick
  • Dickson recommends updating the firmware Over the Air (OTA) which is allows the option for Automatic or Manual

How to Update the Device Firmware

Automatically OTA:
Go to DicksonOne.com > Select a Device > Settings > Firmware
  1. Select Update this Device automatically on the Firmware page
  2. Or select Use the account default: if it is set to Update this device automatically
  3. Click Save
Note The account default option is determined by the Account Owner in DicksonOne. As a new device is registered, it will inherit the Company Account Default Device Settings.
Manually OTA:
Go to DicksonOne.com > Select a Device > Settings > Firmware
  1. Select Do not update this device automatically on the Firmware page
  2. Or select Use the account default: if it is set to Do not update this device automatically
  3. Click Save
  4. To update to the latest firmware version, click Update Firmware in the Firmware page
Note The device checks for new firmware updates approximately every eight hours. You can force this by powering the device off and shutting it down. The firmware update is estimated to last 2 hours to download and a minute or less to update. The device will continue to work as expected while the update proceeds.
Manually USB Stick:
  • Edit

Go to DicksonOne.com > Select a Device > Settings > Firmware

  1. Click Review Firmware Changelog 
  2. Click the Filter button
  3. Locate the Device Firmware (DWE or TWE/TWP) and click the download icon to download the file
  4. Save the file onto a USB stick
  • Edit

Change Logs page

  1. Select Firmware on the Change Logs page
  2. Click the Filter button
  3. Scroll and Locate the Device Firmware (DWE or TWE/TWP) and click the download icon to download the file
  4. Save the file onto a USB Stick
  5.  Manually Power the Device off by pressing the power button
  6. Plug the USB Stick into the Device USB Port
  7.  Verify that the USB stick icon appears on the screen
  8. Remove USB Stick after the device is updated
